DECEMBER 17, 2019 – ST.CATHARINES, ON — On Tuesday, December 3, 2019, The Niagara Home Builders’ Association hosted their annual Christmas Celebration, adding a bit of rustic, country inspiration to over 300 guests at the Holiday Inn Convention Centre in St. Catharines.

For almost 20 years, the NHBA has paid recognition to the individuals and companies that are responsible for the Associations’ presence and viability, by awarding both a Member of the Year Award and Nick Basciano Company of the Year Award.

David Samis, President of Phelps Homes and Vice President of the Niagara Home Builders Association took home this year’s “Member of the Year” Award.

In his address to the audience, NHBA Executive Officer Chuck McShane notes that David was selected due to his broad understanding of the NHBA’s platform and his continued commitment to the growth and development of the Association as a whole.

With an Association of over 130 member companies, this year’s “Nick Basciano Company of the Year” Award recipient was Niagara’s own Cotton Inc.

As a pillar of the Niagara Community for over 40 years, Cotton Inc. was selected based on their commitment to safety in the workplace, as well as their continued dedication and support of the NHBA. Cotton was also selected due to their on-going enrichment and support of a variety of charities and organizations throughout the Niagara Region, with over $70,000 donated in 2019 alone.

Closing out the awards, Amanda Preston of Lucchetta Homes was presented with a Special Recognition Award from the NHBA, for her pivotal role in a charity based partnership project.
