NHBA is pleased to announce the winners of the 2018 Scholarship Awards

The Scholarship Program was established in recognition of the importance of post-secondary education. Scholarships are awarded to sons, daughters or legal wards of owners, partners and employees of Niagara Home Builder’s Association members.


Jacqueline Brogan…sponsored by A-Plus Air.  Jacqueline is entering her first year in the Registered Practical Nursing Program at Durham College in Oshawa and strongly believes a health science background could lead her to a career in Construction Health and Safety. Jacqueline is a team player through sports and charity involvement.

 Joshua DeMelo…sponsored by Mountainview Homes.  Joshua is entering his first year in the Business Administration Co-op program at Brock University. Joshua excels in soccer with Elite Soccer Academy, Club Roma and working to expand his knowledge of the construction industry.

Hannah Katzman…sponsored by Dufferin Concrete.  Hannah will be attending the University of Guelph studying Psychology with a co-op component. Hannah is a full-time summer camp counsellor, and a participant of the Competitive Dance Team travelling and performing across Ontario.

John-Daniel Leonard…sponsored by Metroland Media.  John-Daniel is entering his first year in the Commerce program at the University of Guelph. John-Daniel has experiences in different types of work environments and activities leading him to pursue a career in real estate development.

Olivia Lucchetta…sponsored by Lucchetta Homes.  Olivia will be attending Smiths School of Business at Queens University in Kingston learning and experiencing core subjects in business and participating in workshops and clubs for young leaders. Olivia has been involved in numerous teams and clubs in school and the community including Healthy Active Living Team (HALT), Competitive Dance, and soccer trainer/mentor with young athletes.

Matthew Memme…sponsored by Mountainview Homes.  Matthew will be attending his first year at the University of British Columbia in the engineering program.  Matthew’s construction experience includes working as a labourer on site, adapting a mobile database to address the needs of the employees and site supers, to data programming in the office. Active in school and the community, Matthew has participated in soccer, ski club, cross country, and in two Humanitarian builds.

Justin Passero…sponsored by Silvergate Homes.  Justin is attending his first year at the University of Guelph in the Bachelor of Commerce Major Undeclared program.  Justin is active in football, hockey and lacrosse, supported a variety of school projects and currently learning valuable skills working in the construction field.
